LTU is a smaller private university in Southfield, which is focused on research and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) academic fields. Originally founded as a technically-focused college, it has retained the same motto since 1934: “theory and practice.” This means the school has always focused on teaching through doing. The school’s four colleges are architecture & design, arts & sciences, engineering, and management.

As shown in the Henry Ford Museum, the Detroit area has long been a hotspot of American innovation and invention.
